Trastevere – the Real Rome.
Small group tour

Why to go: Discover Rome from the inside – linen on ropes, narrow streets and family cafes.

Rome opens up: You will go to the other side of the Tiber and find yourself in a vibrant spell of terracotta streets, explore the golden Byzantine mosaic of the XIIth century Santa-Maria-in-Trastevere — one of the oldest Roman churches, you will admire Raphael’s frescoes in the Farnesina Villa and imagine him meeting a beautiful Fornarina in the streets, his muse and love. You will learn how the Swedish Queen Christina found herself in Rome and where she received guests, you will drop into the ancient pharmacy with over five centuries’ history. Here they still make medications according to the papal recipes. You will pull a heavy door of St. Cecilia Church and discover its secrets and the secrets of its catacombs.

Then we will have a short coffee break in a cozy family café where you will feel the flair of Trastevere and will hear its voices. You will hear the local stories about the shelter for the poor, the window of the beautiful Fornarina and the house of Ennio Morricone.

Bonus: Hints on cool restaurants, most beautiful viewpoints and other sights.
Details: A walking tour in a small group of maximum 12 people with individual headphones for your convenience.

Many thanks to the entire team! Everything was clear and well-organized, being in a small group is really nice! We didn’t regret a second!

Trastevere is an absolutely magical place. My husband and I learned so much about it! Our guide Maria explained and showed us the most amazing places – some incredible churches, ivy-covered houses, cozy streets, cafes. We took almost 1000 pictures and each of them was better than the other! Thank you for the great tour and information shared with us.

  3. Talia, Israel says:

Interesting tour. Lots of historical facts and present-day stories, parables, etc. and all this with a touch of humor. We visited the Villa Farnesina with stunning frescoes by Raphael, old houses and basilicas. A beautiful colorful place worth visiting for all lovers of Rome

  4. Fernando Nunes says:

Trastevere is amazing! I’m in love! It’s a totally different world and I was longing to soak up every detail. I loved the Villa Farnesina. Trastevere is also full of bars and restaurants, it is impossible to visit all of them but Paola offered her recommendations and we loved the places 100%. Special thanks to the coordinator!
